Yes. Occupational therapy is available to self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants under Improved Daily Living (support item 15_056_0128_1_3). Yoga classes may also be funded as therapeutic support where an assessment shows they align with your therapy goals and you have approved funding for ongoing supports.
Beyond NDIS, occupational therapy can be accessed through Medicare via a Chronic Disease Management plan (up to five sessions with a GP referral), My Aged Care packages, DVA Gold Card, private health extras depending on your policy, or privately. If you are not sure which applies, get in touch and we will help you work it out.
Yes. Shala OT is a mobile practice. Sessions can take place in your home, school, childcare or workplace, at our Brighton studio, or via telehealth. A travel fee applies for home and workplace visits and is shown separately on your invoice.
Yoga-based interventions are individualised and always guided by an OT assessment of your function, so they are safe and appropriate for you. Depending on your goals, that might mean breathing techniques to support regulation, adapted postures using props, a chair or a bed, mindfulness and relaxation practices, or a home program you can build into your week.
No. There is no flexibility, fitness or experience requirement. Postures are adapted to your body and your function, and plenty of the work happens seated or lying down. Accessible Chair Yoga classes are designed specifically for wheelchair users and anyone who needs a seated practice.
Most practices treat function and wellbeing separately. Shala OT brings occupational therapy, movement practices and mentoring into one integrated model, so the clinical work and the way you feel in your body are addressed together. The goal is not just to resolve a problem but to leave you with skills, confidence and self-trust you keep using.
